Is Now a Good Time for a Real Estate Career?

Many people have asked me if now is a good time to have a career in real estate. There are actually a few factors that play into having a successful real estate career, but the state of the market isn’t one of them.

Looking to improve your real estate career? We're here to help you make a smart decision when it comes to growing your business, improving your bottom line, and choosing a place to work in real estate sales. One of the questions I get asked pretty often is, “Is it a good time to have a career in real estate?” The truth is, the state of the market doesn’t matter as much as a few other factors when deciding if you should consider a real estate career.

Right now we are in a seller’s market, which means there are fewer homes available than there are buyers to purchase them. This creates challenges for a real estate agent who wishes to list a home for two reasons. There are more agents entering the marketplace and fewer sellers are willing to sell right now because they are afraid they won’t be able to find a new home.
A career in real estate is about more than showing homes and driving a Mercedes.
However, having a successful career in real estate has less to do with the market type and more with your willingness to apply discipline to your craft. This means being on top of daily lead generation. A career in real estate is about more than showing homes and driving a Mercedes.

If you are disciplined and implement daily practices that will grow your business, you will be successful and make a more than sufficient income. It’s hard to say where the market is heading, but we will probably stay in a seller’s market for a while.

However, regardless of the market, the economy is stable. In fact, if you learn how to discipline yourself in a seller’s market, you’ll get really good at talking to potential sellers which will help you immensely in a buyer’s market.
